This is a review into the identification and management of male victims of intimate partner violence by ambulance clinicians being undertaken by Jennifer Mackay, Chris Pritchard, Ronnie Jieru Yan, Isla Kuhn and Eleanor Barker with funding from Nottingham Trent University.

The primary outcome is to review literature covering the international picture that is written in English or Mandarin related to the experiences of, and strategies employed by, ambulance clinicians when they respond to male victims of intimate partner violence. Therefore, the research question to be addressed by this systematic review is:

In relation to ambulance clinicians responding to adult male victims of intimate partner violence:

  • How do they identify this population?
  • How do they manage this population?
  • What are their experiences?

The protocol for this review is available to download and the review has been registered on prospero.

Currently, identification of records from databases and deduplication has occured, but screening and eligibility is in progress. Other methods of retrieval will occur once eligibility of articles from databases has been assessed.
